Vision Satement

WE ENVISION that in the University of Ghana, ICT is well integrated into teaching, learning, research and drives most of the university’s administration services, such that:

Teachers/Researchers use ICT as a basic tool to teach, communicate and collaborate with students, peers, and researchers within and outside the university.

Students (on-campus and off-campus) use ICT for learning and accessing learning resources over various multimedia platforms.

Managers, Heads and Administrators easily access information about the university’s resources in order to manage them – information on students, courses/programmes, schedules, exams, time-tables, admissions, financial and non-financial resources.

The university user community use ICT for communicating and sharing of information within and outside the University.

The general public are able to access online educational resources, information on the University’s research works, academic programmes and activities easily from the University’s web site.

Information resources (Research Works, Journals, Books, Students’ Financial Statement, Results, Transcripts, etc) are easily accessible within UG intranet and over the Internet.

Information, Registration, Admissions are conveniently done electronically and online within and remotely from outside the University.

Our lecture rooms and classrooms are ICT-enabled to promote e-learning.

Strategic Thrusts

trategic Thrust 1: ICT Services and Infrastructure
This focuses on:
o Providing a suite of ICT services aimed at enhancing the work and activities of teachers, researchers, students (on-campus and off-campus) and administrative staff.
o Building and maintaining a reliable, accessible and secured ICT infrastructure
o Building and maintaining the ICT organisational capacity required to provide and manage ICT services effectively to the satisfaction of the user community.

Strategic Thrust 2: e-Learning
The aim of this thrust is to enhance teaching and learning by the adoption of suitable
e-learning tools and multi-media system and also to promote distance education.

Strategic Thrust 3: Management Information System (MIS)
This aims at enhancing efficiencies and effectiveness of administrative functions and decision-making through the automation and provision of management information.

Strategic Thrust 4: ICT Funding
This is to ensure that the ICT infrastructure and services are sustained through adequate funding.
